Connecting to your Apple TV

  1. Same network. Your Mac and Apple TV must be on the same network (the same Wi-Fi, or cabled to the same router).
  2. Allow on your Mac. On first launch macOS asks whether TVRemote may find devices on your local network: click Allow. If you clicked Don't Allow: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → TVRemote.
  3. On the Apple TV. Settings → AirPlay and HomeKit → Allow Access → Anyone on the Same Network.
  4. Pair once. Pick your TV from the list at the top, click Pair and type the code shown on the TV.
  5. All set. From now on TVRemote connects by itself, even when the TV is in standby: the ⏻ button turns it on. Press ⌃⌥T anywhere to show the remote.

My Apple TV does not appear in the list

Check steps 1–3 above. Guest networks and some mesh or business Wi-Fi setups block devices from seeing each other.

Pairing says the code is wrong

Type the code exactly as shown on the TV (newer tvOS versions show letters and digits). After several wrong codes the Apple TV pauses pairing for a moment.

Trial and purchase

TVRemote is free to try for 7 days. After that, a one-time purchase unlocks it forever, with no subscription. Family Sharing is supported. On a new Mac, open TVRemote and choose Restore purchase.

Volume does not change

Volume buttons work when the Apple TV controls your TV or receiver volume (HDMI-CEC or IR, set in Settings → Remotes and Devices on the Apple TV).

  1. Aceeași rețea. Mac-ul și Apple TV-ul trebuie să fie în aceeași rețea (același Wi-Fi sau același router).
  2. Permite pe Mac. La prima pornire macOS întreabă dacă TVRemote poate căuta dispozitive în rețeaua locală: apasă Allow. Dacă ai apăsat Don't Allow: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → TVRemote.

  4. Asociază o dată. Alege televizorul din listă, apasă Asociază și scrie codul afișat pe TV.
  5. Gata. De acum se conectează singur, chiar și cu TV-ul în standby: butonul ⏻ îl pornește. ⌃⌥T arată telecomanda de oriunde.
